Aunt Vivian: Congratulations, Lily. I know how you like being right. Aunt Vivian: I didn’t want to be right. I- I knew I was gonna be, but I didn’t want to be. I don’t get any satisfaction from seeing you hurt.Aunt Lily: Now, I really don’t believe you.

pushingdailydaisies:

Morning has broken, like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning,
Praise for the springing fresh from the word,
Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning,
Born of the one light, Eden saw play.
Praise with elation, praise every morning,
God’s creation of the new day.

I seriously want to dress like Vivian Charles when I’m that age. There was a moment in “Comfort Foods” where I had to rewind for a Vivian Charles outfit appreciation moment. And I hope I have Ellen Greene’s body at some point in my life. Seriously, her legs in her late fifties could pull off dresses on this show that I can’t pull off now at eighteen.

     Happy Birthday, Ellen Greene!

Next up we have a scene from one of the greatest TV shows of all time, Pushing Daisies! This is a clip from Season 1, Episode 7: “Smell of Success.” In this truly beautiful scene, the character Vivian Charles (Greene), an agoraphobic, former synchronized swimmer, sings the song, “Morning Has Broken” while getting her and her one-eyed sister/former synchronized swimming partner, Lily (Swoosie Kurtz) back into the water after many years. If that description didn’t just turn you onto this show, then you’re a lost cause.

Seriously, there’s isn’t even the main plotline of the show. Nothing I just said has anything to do with the main character, who is a pie maker with the ability to bring people back from the dead. Somebody remind me why this show was canceled, please.

This is honestly one of my favorite pictures of this show.

Do you have a point to this visit, or did you just stop by for snorts and giggles?
Season 2, Episode 6

In Season 1, Vivian was definitely my favorite of the aunts, just because she was so sweet and pleasant and adorable, but Season 2 changed everything completely. Lily is just such an amazing character and I would have loved to see where everything went with her story.
