Ellen Greene and Lee Wilkof singing We’ll Have Tomorrow, a deleted song from Little Shop of Horrors, at Howard Ashman’s memorial service, 1991. Accompanying them is Alan Menken.
This song would have occurred after The meek Shall Inherit. The song was removed from the show due to continuity issues and the fact that Act II had two ballads - We’ll Have Tomorrow and Suddenly Seymour - and the show’s writers felt that Act II only had room for one.
Please take the time to listen. This is a beautiful song about hope, love, dreams -highlighting the tragedy of the bittersweet end that captures them both.
Listen out for the the words We’ll Have Tomorrow right at the end of the finale Don’t Feed the Plants. Those three words were left in the show as a nod to this deleted song.
